Biography

Pierre Camu, retired transportation executive, was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of Ottawa from 1973 to 1979 and has been an honorary member since 1979. A passionate geographer, Mr. Camu was awarded an honorary doctorate in geography by the University of Ottawa in 1968.  He received the Order of Canada in 1976.  Mr. Camu has participated in a number of committees and organizations, namely, as Vice-President of the St-Lawrence Seaway Authority, President of the Canadian Marine Transportation Administration, President of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters and Chairman of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). Mr. Camy is also Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.  He published Le Saint-Laurent et les Grands-Lacs au temps de la voile 1608-1850 in 1996 along with several other articles dealing with transportation and economics of transport.
