Chancellor's Debate

The University of Ottawa believes in stimulating constructive thinking that encourages discussion and raises awareness of differing perspectives on important topics. And this is the aim of the uOttawa Chancellor’s Debate, which brings together thought-leaders, opinion-makers and exceptional individuals who, through lively exchanges and spirited discussions, explore and discuss important contemporary issues, principally for the benefit of students.

The uOttawa Chancellor’s Debate is held twice yearly, once in the fall and once in the spring. The formats and topics of these debates vary. Formats will range from panel discussions to one-on-one interviews to classic, head-to-head debates, depending on the topic and the invited guests. Topics could include foreign affairs, innovation and economic growth, or justice and social policy.

The Chancellor attends and participates in each debate.

Join Calin Rovinescu, University of Ottawa chancellor and former Air Canada CEO for a thoughtful conversation with Wes Hall, founder and executive chair of Kingsdale Advisors and star of CBC’s Dragon’s Den.

In addition to being one of Canada’s most influential business leaders, Wes Hall is the founder and chair of the Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism and the BlackNorth Initiative, which is committed to the removal of anti-Black systemic barriers affecting the lives of Black Canadians.

This discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer period. You can submit your questions in advance for consideration.
