Dane Bedward is a seasoned strategic thinker and business problem solver. He has experience as an entrepreneur in start-up companies and as a senior executive/intrapreneur in large, multinational corporations (Johnson and Johnson Inc., Nordion Inc. and Genzyme Corp.). Coming from a business-oriented immigrant family, he started his apprenticeship early in life, working alongside his grandfather, who founded the Ottawa-based Brown’s Cleaners chain of dry cleaners. He learned the importance of perseverance, good financial management, and customer satisfaction early in life.
Mr. Bedward’s passion is the global commercialization of innovative products. He has honed his cultural sensitivity during various international assignments in Canada, the U.S., Latin America, Asia and the E.U. His experience of over 25 years has given him tremendous insight into all aspects of business management: commercialization, financing, regulation, planning, and the critical element – execution. As a member of both for-profit and not-for-profit boards, he has participated in developing corporate strategies, structures, and procedures to ensure business success and stakeholder accountability.
Mr. Bedward is presently CEO of NeuroBot Inc., a strategic advisory company. He is also entrepreneur-in-residence for Invest Ottawa and for L-Spark, and is an advisor at Mistral Venture Partners and Welch Capital Partners. A University of Ottawa alumnus, he serves on the boards of the Capital Angel Network, the National Angel Capital Organization, Spiderwort Inc., and PanTHERA CryoSolutions. He is a charter member and mentor with the Ottawa chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) as well as with Canadian Entrepreneurs in New England (CENE).
