OLBI also offers non credit courses to develop language skills you need to access University-level courses, and language training for uOttawa employees, at any level of proficiency.

Master of Arts in Bilingualism Studies

The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI) is offering a program leading to the Master of Arts (MA) in Bilingualism Studies. This program is intended to offer an advanced education in several areas of applied linguistics, including bilingualism and multilingualism, methodological and technological innovations in adult second language instruction, assessment of adult second language competence, as well as language policy and planning.

The program is offered in English and French. Students are required to take one of their two compulsory courses in English and the other in French. The electives can be taken in either language.

Microprogram

Want to further customize your degree?

Complete a Microprogram by taking any 4 French or English courses. Acquire knowledge and develop skills for fewer course units than a Major or an Honours program.

  • Students already admitted to a University of Ottawa program may add the Microprogram to their program of study through the online tool. It will contribute to the degree requirements at the elective course level.

  • Individuals interested in the Microprogram who are not previously admitted to earn a University of Ottawa degree must apply for registration as a special student.

The Official Languages and Bilingualism Institution (OLBI) supports French and English Immersion courses for intermediate level eligible students who wish to increase their linguistic abilities in an academic setting!
