Kevin Loring

Kevin is N’lakapamux from the Lytton First Nation in the Fraser Canyon of British Columbia. He is a graduate of Studio 58, Langara College’s professional theatre training program and Full Circle: First Nations Performance’s ensemble training program. He is an actor, playwright, director and the founding artistic director of Savage Society, a charity dedicated to producing Indigenous stories. In 2017, Kevin was named the first artistic director of Indigenous theatre at the National Arts Centre of Canada.

Kevin has received multiple awards, including the 2005 Vancouver Arts Award for Emerging Theatre Artist, along with second place in the 2007 Herman Voaden competition, the Sydney J. Risk Foundation Prize, the Jessie Richardson Award for outstanding original script and the 2009 Governor General’s Award, all for his first published play, Where the Blood Mixes. He is also a recipient of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Mentorship Award.

As an actor, Kevin has performed on stages across the country, in radio productions, as a voice actor for animation and in lead roles on the big and small screens. In fall 2017, Kevin directed the world premiere of his latest play, Thanks for Giving, at the Arts Club Theatre on Granville Island in Vancouver. The play was also shortlisted for the Governor General’s Literary Award for drama in 2019.
