Campers age 9-13 will have an opportunity to work hands-on in the kitchen with award-winning uOttawa chefs and learn basic (101) and slightly more advanced (102) cooking and kitchen skills, including food safety, kitchen tool handling, recipe reading, and measuring ingredients. Campers’ days will be split between the cooking in the kitchen and fun and fresh air with camp counsellors. Each week will include a trip to the pool and an outing with a food theme!
This unique opportunity is offered in partnership with the School of Nutrition Sciences of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Culinary 101
Campers will learn food safety, basic knife handling, ingredient measuring, and recipe reading while preparing doughs and sauces from scratch! Healthy eating and creative use of leftovers are also covered, and everyone helps with cleaning up!
Gee-Gees 102
Campers will prepare family friendly dinners, plus healthy lunches, and simple snacks. Food safety, knife handling, and healthy eating lessons go deeper, while recipes are slightly more challenging. Dinner may never be the same for your family again!
