Job Description:
As a Gee-Gees Camps Counselor, it is your responsibility to uphold all camp values by delivering quality programming while creating a safe and dynamic atmosphere for all. Camp Counselors dedicate their summer to providing a fun, dynamic and supportive environment for camp children, youth, and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES( NOT LIMITED TO)
- Attend and complete all Mandatory Trainings (May-June, June)
- Complete understanding of all camp policies and procedures and child-care management by actively performing all daily duties align with these practices as outlined in the Camp Handbook and in Training.
- Day-to-Day delivery and participation of all camp programs and activities (Virtual or in-person)
- Actively provide a fun and interactive camp environment for all while actively ensuring the care and upmost safety and security for children and youth ages 5 – 17 in all camp areas.
- Practice confidentiality when being trusted with any camper personal or family information.
- Report, complete paperwork as needed (Incident/Accident reports, behavioural forms, logs etc.)
- Demonstrate maturity, sound judgement, leadership, and professionalism always
- Collaborate, support, and empower your co-workers and peers
- Plan, facilitate, and lead activities throughout the day and ensure proper clean up of those activities.
- Be in constant communication with your Head Counselor, Co-Counselors and Coordinators.
- Arrive to camp on-time, clean, in the camp uniform.
- Be a positive Role Model
SKILLS/ REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Background and Competency in Sports and/or Recreation and/or Leadership Development
- Leadership and ability to work as a part if a dynamic team
- Language Skills: Bilingual, English & French – Oral, written, and comprehension
- Adequate access to a wi-fi network to be available for interactive virtual meetings, trainings, and facilitations throughout the duration of the summer.
- Strong Assets: Experience working in a camp environment and with children
- Provided: All camp staff will be required to take a Safeguard Certification during training.
POSITION PRE-REQUISITES: Must be willing to obtain prior to camp training
- Standard First-Aid CPR/AED Training Certification
- Valid Police record check (Vulnerable Sector)
CAMP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gee-Gees Camps offer a variety of programs during the summer including Recreational, Culinary, Leadership Development, and Specialized Sports Camps. Head Counselors are given ample planning time in training and will be expected to plan and execute programs they are assigned to for the duration of the summer.

Job Description:
All referees are required to apply and enforce the rules established for their sport to the best of their abilities. Head referees are responsible for managing and mentoring all referees and ensuring a high level of officiating is maintained and consistent. They are responsible for scheduling referees. They must also settle any disputes that arise and sit in on their sport’s disciplinary committee. Additionally, they are tasked with ensuring that all policies and league procedures are followed as per Intramural Program policy. Head Referees will report to the Intramural Programs’ Coordinator and Assistant Coordinators while working in conjunction with League Supervisors.
SKILLS/ REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and people skills;
- Leadership and ability to work as part of a dynamic team;
- Good language competency (oral, written and comprehension) in both English and French;
- Significant experience working as referee (>4 years) and dealing with conflict;
- Experience in a supervisory and/or in a customer service roll;
- Recognized Referee Certification (preferred)
- Previous experience in an Intramural Program (participant and/or official);
- CPR and/or First Aid an asset
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Before the Season:
- Organize training sessions at the beginning of each term to review rules and general guidelines for the leagues;
- Train referees for the sport in question;
- Ensure all referees are given referee shirts and whistles;
- Plan and attend the team captains’ and referees’ meetings;
- Create referee schedules in advanced;
- Attend all mandatory meetings and information sessions;
- Review league rules & make any specific modifications after coordinator approval
During the Season:
- Remain updated on all current rules and procedures for the sport and the leagues;
- Ensure league rules and procedures are followed fairly by all participants and employees;
- Conduct referee mid-season and end of season evaluation.
- Find replacements, or replace referees that are unable to attend games;
- Lead by example when refereeing games;
- Verify all score sheets for the respective sport;
- Continually communicate with Assistant Coordinators throughout season;
- Perform periodic evaluations of all referees and provide constructive feedback;
- Submit referees’ hours to the Assistant Coordinator by deadline to ensure payment;
- Be in contact with League Supervisors to ensure the league runs smoothly;
- In the event of a major incident, the Head Referee must collect all relevant documents and data and meet with the disciplinary committee;
- Attend and staff all tournaments and special events related to their sport;
- Professionally deal with any questions, comments, or concerns from players and/or referees.

Job Description:
Intramural League Supervisors are the Intramural Program’s representatives during games. They promote communication between Intramural Programs’ administration staff and participants. Supervisors are responsible for managing the leagues and ensuring they run smoothly throughout the season. This includes preparing game sheets, taking out and putting away all necessary equipment, completing incident/accident reports when necessary and being available to answer questions from participants. Supervisors must know the rules and regulations of their sport(s) and facilities and apply them whenever disputes may arise. They will also post all scores and standings and notify affected parties when there are changes to the schedule. Supervisors must administer first-aid, when necessary, and complete appropriate accident forms. They will promote a safe and fun environment for all participants. Supervisors will attend all required training sessions and assist during registration week. The League Supervisors report to the Intramural Programs’ Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator.
SKILLS/ REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Job Description:
The Fitness Attendant is the first point of contact with all members entering the University of Ottawa’s fitness centres. Their presence in the fitness centres serves many purposes, most importantly helping members by answering questions and ensuring the proper use of equipment. Attendants must also ensure that members observe proper gym etiquette and follow fitness centre rules. Furthermore, attendants will ensure that the fitness centres and all equipment are well maintained by periodically checking and cleaning throughout their shifts. Fitness attendants must also be certified and be ready to provide first aid should such a situation arise. Fitness attendants may be asked to work day, evening and/or weekend shifts at the Sport Services fitness centres.

The trainer is a professional in the fitness field and they are to teach their clients how to train safely, by demonstrating and teaching proper technique and using appropriate cues to guide their clients through their workouts.
