Peer Wellness Program

The Peer Wellness Program is comprised of students dedicated to spreading awareness about various health and wellness topics on campus. We are also a group of peers here to listen and support you, and offer you a holistic approach to well-being.

The uOttawa Peer Wellness Program is looking for volunteers for the 2022–2023 academic year!

Deadline: February 28, 2022

  • ​​​​​​Undergraduate students from all faculties welcome. 
  • Bilingualism (EN/FR) preferred — spoken/written/comprehension. 
  • Three hours per week (first week of September 2022 to  April 2023). 
  • Volunteer hours count towards your Co-Curricular Record (CCR). 
  • Group interviews will be held throughout March 2022.  
  • Successful candidates must attend a two-day mandatory training session on September 1 and 2, 2022.

Please note that if you apply for and are selected for both, you will have to choose one position (you can’t hold two positions at the same time). 

Health Promo Team

Represent one of the health teams and educate students on making healthy choices while studying at uOttawa via various outreach and education methods. Educational materials provided are from evidence-based research from credible sources. Due to COVID-19, this position will feature a mixed in-person/online outreach model. All appropriate measures will be taken to ensure everyone’s safety. 

Street team (in-person): Represent one of 4 health teams and educate students on how to stay healthy on campus via in-person educational outreach, co-hosting workshops and activities, and more. Examples of in-person educational outreach on campus include helping out at events and workshops such as Wellness Week and various health and wellness fairs.

Social media team (virtual): Educate students on how to stay healthy no matter where they are by capturing and creating engaging content destined for social media, contributing to articles and web content, and more. Examples of online educational outreach include creating engaging content for our social media platforms (FB/IG posts, videos, tweets, etc.), writing blogs, creating game-based learning content (wellness quiz, virtual escape rooms, etc.) 


Chat team (virtual): Support students via the Peer Wellness Chat by helping them navigate available support services on and off-campus, health services on and off-campus, and more. Examples of online support include providing mental health and wellness support to students via our Peer Wellness chat, educating students about services offered to them on and off campus, and helping students use the uOttawa Health and Wellness Website
