Students on campus
This spring, the University of Ottawa will open a Student Health and Wellness Centre, focused on physical health, mental health, health prevention and promotion.

For the first time, all health and wellness services will be provided by uOttawa with an integrated, personal approach that focuses on student wellness.

The centre will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, including physicians, nurses, a psychologist and psychiatrists working together in a shared care model.

Prioritizing wellness

The University believes that to do well, we must be well. The new centre is part of uOttawa’s commitment to focus on student wellness as a key factor in academic and personal success.

In January, the University of Ottawa signed the Okanagan Charter, committing itself to health promotion.  With the growing demand for rapid assistance, uOttawa believes that it can understand and respond seamlessly to student needs. In fact, uOttawa has established an advisory committee comprised of students and other stakeholders, making for a truly student-centric approach.

Whether you are from Canada or abroad, you will be able to access the centre’s walk-in services.  In addition to providing immediate support and primary care, the centre, operated by Student Affairs, will be an integrated service centre actively focused on prevention.

Help when you need it

Until the new centre, located in the Minto Sports Complex (801 King Edward), on the second floor, opens, you can continue to access medical and psychological care at the Byward Family Health clinic, 100 Marie Curie. You can also visit the Wellness Lounge or sign up for a support group.

Do you have more questions?

An information booth will be set up on campus during Wellness Week, from January 17 to 21, 2022. Dr. Patrick Leclair, centre medical director, will be there to meet with you and answer your questions. If you are not on campus during that time, you will have the opportunity to ask your questions through our social media platforms.

The new centre will open its doors May 1, 2022.
