Entrepreneurship Student Ambassador Program

Job Description

The uOttawa Entrepreneurship Hub (eHub) is looking for Entrepreneurship Student Ambassadors within five faculties (Arts, Engineering, Science, Social Sciences, and Telfer) to promote entrepreneurship across campus from September 2023 until April 2024. Those that complete their role will receive a $1000 scholarship! 

The Entrepreneurship Student Ambassadors will increase the presence of the eHub and its activities across the campus by providing feedback on activities, promoting events through social media and connecting with students in class, events and other programs.  

eSAs will commit to a series of activities each month that help build the brand and profile of the eHub, while inspiring other students to pursue an entrepreneurial path. eSAs will be promoting entrepreneurship as a mind set and a career path, highlighting the breadth of programs available to students on and off campus!  

This candidate will be interested in the entrepreneurial ecosystem, will love connecting with others and will be interested in social media.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • eSA students will be asked to work 8 hours a month on activities related to their role  

  • Produce interesting and original written content for the eHub social media accounts through Instagram take-overs, pre-planned posts, connections with faculty-related social media pages and up to three blogs  

  • Participate in monthly touchpoints with eHub staff and other eSAs to provide feedback on campaigns, upcoming events and activities  

  • Connect with students, staff and professors by maintaining a physical presence at events on campus, specifically those related to their faculty of study. This can include career fairs, club days, open houses etc.   

  • Deliver presentations within classes about the eHub, its activities and the work of the entrepreneurship community on campus  

  • Attend eHub events to support logistics and coordination of activities such as Global Entrepreneurship Week, The Crunch, Rev-Up Circuit, Startup Social and others.  

  • Work with eHub staff and/or other eHub volunteers under direction of the supervisors  

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student pursuing studies in the faculties of Arts, Engineering, Science, Social Sciences and Telfer (3rd or 4th year) 

  • Experience connecting with others and building relationships with other students  

  • Understanding social media and where to go to connect with students online  

  • Excellent written communication skills in both official languages (English / French.) Ideal placement for bilingual students. 

Skills

  • Strong creative and interpersonal skills  

  • Committed to representing the eHub in a professional and positive manner 

  • Able to make creative suggestions in the interest of the organization 

  • Positive attitude, enthusiastic, and open to feedback  

  • Familiarity with the University of Ottawa’s various spokes and structure is an asset 

  • Knowledge / experience relating to entrepreneurship is an asset  

Working Conditions  

  • Will work in-person and online 

Perks

  • The eSAP from September 2023 until April 2024 

  • Upon completion of the 8 hours / month for 8 months, students will receive a $1,000 scholarship  

  • Each eSA will receive an eHub swag bag with clothing, hand outs and more to wear to events and give out to other students!  

  • The eHub will set aside a certain number of tickets for eSA’s to attend entrepreneurship events hosted on campus and in the community (as budget allows)
