Follow these easy steps to enrol in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). If you’ve already enrolled, you don’t need to do so again.
On your “My Sun Life” insurance page, you can see your pay-direct coverage card, coverage and claims history, and you can print your claim forms. You can also sign up for direct deposit so if you must pay yourself for a covered service or item, you’ll get the money back quickly right in your bank account.
Get your sign-in ID, Access ID and password
Step 1: Register online

Go to mysunlife.ca and select Register

Enter your Date of birth
-
For Country of residence select Canada

Enter your Postal code
-
Select Health/Dental benefit
Step 2: Member ID

For Policy number enter 050150
-
Enter your personal Member ID. Your member ID is UO (“O” is the letter O) such as:
- UO + 00 + 7-digit student number (please note “00” are numbers) Ex: UO00XXXXXXX

UO + 9-digit student number Ex: UO300XXXXXX
Note: If you’re having difficulties registering, call the Sun Life Financial Customer Care Centre at 1-888-206-9004 any business day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Ottawa Time.
Step 3: Request a registration code

Select Need a registration code?

Check your @uOttawa email for your temporary registration code. The code is only valid for 48 hours. If you haven’t received your temporary registration code email, check your spam folder.

Enter your temporary registration code and select Next.
Note: If Sun Life doesn’t have your email address, a registration code will be mailed to you.
Allow seven to 10 business days to receive your code by mail. This code is valid for 45 days.
Step 4: Sign-in ID & password
Set up your sign in profile:

Select the email address shown to use as your sign-in. This will be used to send any communications and password reset information.

If you received your registration code via postal mail, enter your email address to be used as your sign-in.

Create a password that meets all the security criteria.

Select a security verification question and provide an answer.

Select Next.
Step 5: Add your phone number

You have the option to add a phone number.

Select Submit.
Important: You will need your email address and password each time you sign in.
Congratulations. Once you receive confirmation, you’ll be enrolled.
