Planning your quarantine

Since early in the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Canada has required most travellers to quarantine (self-isolate) when travelling to Canada.

Quarantine rules

The details of the quarantine rules, how they are applied and who is exempt change often. We recommend that you start planning your quarantine by reading the latest information directly from the Government of Canada. If you have questions after reading the website, contact us at [email protected] and our quarantine support team will be happy to assist you.

Updated February 1, 2022

You must be fully vaccinated with an approved COVID-19 vaccine to be allowed to travel to Canada. Fully vaccinated travellers may be exempt from quarantine depending on the latest rules. Note that even if you are fully vaccinated to travel to Canada, you may need an additional dose to be considered fully vaccinated in the province of Ontario to be able to access the University campus.

All travellers need to have a quarantine plan in place even if they are exempt from quarantine. This is in case the rules change or there are issues with your proof of vaccination. Please take the time to plan your quarantine diligently as your well-being and the well-being of our community is important to all of us.

Note that the final decision on whether your self-isolation plan is adequate rests with the border services agent and public health authorities when you enter Canada.

The Governments of Canada and Ontario in coordination with Ottawa Public Health have placed special requirements on institutions receiving international students from abroad. Following the directions below will help you and the University comply with the latest quarantine requirements and recommendations.

The information below assumes that you are fully vaccinated for travel to Canada. If you are not fully vaccinated but are permitted to travel to Canada, please indicate this in the registration and we will send you more detailed information to support your quarantine.
