Order your first student card online: it’s quick and easy!

Eligibility

To submit your photo online, you must meet the following criteria:

  • It must be your first uOttawa student card, students who previously had a card cannot submit their photo online, lost and found page
  • You must be a newly admitted uOttawa student
  • Have a uOttawa student number and uOttawa email address
  • Be enrolled in at least one course
  • Have access to a digital camera to take a photo (submitting a photo is mandatory)

If you meet all these criteria, please proceed to Step 1.

Order your card online

Introducing CardExchange®, an online student card photo submission platform for student newly admitted. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Go to: onlinephoto.uottawa.ca

Step 2: Login Credentials: Username and Password are the same as your uoZone portal (uoAccess ID and password). **

Step 3: Once logged in, you will need to Agree to the Privacy Policy.

Step 4: You will then be prompted to take a picture or upload a copy of your government-issued ID for verification purposes.

Step 5: You will need to click on the “Add Photo” option to add a photo of yourself to your profile

Step 6: You will be prompted to take a picture or upload a clear photo (see requirements).

  • Please ensure the following criteria are met, prior to submitting your photo, as other variations will be deemed unacceptable and a request to resubmit your photo will be sent. Note: the majority of our requirements mirror those of a passport photo submission.** Photo Extension Types: .jpeg
  • Photo Requirements:

The bottom edge of the photo should be at shoulder height.

  • Look straight into the camera. Your face should be in the centre of the photo, both horizontally and vertically.
  • The picture should be clear, in colour, and good quality. NO FILTERS
  • You must be the only person in the photo.
  • You must not be wearing a graduation cap, gown, or costume.
  • The background should be plain white or light gray.
  • Nothing should be touching your face, including your hands.
  • You may wear tinted prescription glasses so long as your eyes are clearly visible.
  • No sunglasses or headgear can be worn;
  • All religious head coverings must allow for your full face to be visible;
  • Photo must be a current representation of self (taken in the last 6 months);

Photos that do not meet these criteria will not be accepted, which will cause delays in obtaining your student card.

Step 7: Your photo will be submitted pending approval.

Step 8: An email will be sent to your uOttawa email address when your card is printed.

  1. Logout of your CardExchange account.
  2. You will receive an email once your card has been printed. This email will also provide the next steps to completing your uOttawa Card process. Please note: some email account settings will place emails received from this application into their Junk, Clutter, or Spam Please continue to monitor all folders for a response to your photo submission.

** Troubleshooting Assistance- as a uOttawa Microsoft account user who has previously signed into their account, you may experience a login error. Should this occur, please complete one or all of the following:

  1. Ensure you are logged out of your current uOttawa related Microsoft session.
  2. Login using another web browser.
  3. Clear your cached history (please note, by completing this process, you may need to reset your saved passwords).

If you continue to have issues accessing the platform or if you have any questions, please contact the uOttawa Card Service along with the error message you are receiving.
