The Master of Information Studies (MIS) program at the University of Ottawa is the newest program in Canada to be accredited by the American Library Association (ALA)

American Library Association

In January 2022, the School was awarded Continued accreditation; our next scheduled comprehensive review will be in the fall of 2028.

The two-year master’s program provides students with a broad range of knowledge and skills related to the management and delivery of information services and the development and administration of information policy.  Graduates of the program are working in professional positions as librarians, archivists, information specialists, analysts, and project coordinators in public, university, and government libraries, in government departments and agencies, and in the private sector with technology and consulting firms.

The program offered by the School of Information Studies, now in its tenth year of operation, is the only bilingual/bicultural (English and French) program of its kind in Canada, giving its students a competitive advantage for job opportunities both in the National Capital Region and in other communities across Canada where services are offered in both official languages.

The MIS program is subject to continuous program planning, assessment, development, and improvement.
