Undergraduate program structures

Choose your field of study

Think about your personal interests, strengths, and the subjects you find most stimulating.

Choose your program

Most students in the Faculty of Arts are admitted into a Bachelor of Arts with Major, but you can be admitted into an Honours Bachelor, a Joint Bachelor, a Bachelor of Arts, or into a discipline-specific program (Fine Arts, Digital Journalism, Lettres françaises et éducation, Music, Public Relations).

Choose your program structure

Below, you will find information about our various program structures. If you are admitted to the University of Ottawa into a BA with Major, you will need to choose one of these program structures at the end of your first year. If you completed previous college or university studies and we’ve granted you advanced standing, you must choose a program structure from the list at the time of your initial registration.

Thinking about graduate studies in the future?

You have a variety of graduate programs to choose from such as diplomas, masters and doctoral degrees in our three main areas: Humanities, Languages and Literatures and Fine Arts. You don’t have to plan this now, but it’s good to have an eye on the future.

Management: Philosophy graduates’ scores on the GMAT are also notably high.

Future teachers: Don’t forget the teachable subjects you need for the intermediate or senior level.
