Designed to meet the critical need for teachers in French-language schools in the Greater Toronto area, the Formation à l’enseignement (B.Ed.) program at the Toronto campus is for individuals who already hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and who wish to teach classes in French from kindergarten to Grade 10.

Divisions

Full-time program

The Toronto campus offers a full-time program with courses and professional development activities that take place on campus during the day, in the evening and on Saturdays. This requires attendance on campus every day and, as a full-time program, is difficult to reconcile with full-time employment.

Primary/Junior (P/J): K to Grade 6 allows you to apply teaching and learning methods to the full range of subjects ( French, mathematics, social studies, science, art, health, and physical education ) to teach Kindergarten to Grade 6 in Ontario's French-language schools.

This program offers 20 courses (60 units), specially designed to train candidates wishing to teach in the primary and junior divisions from kindergarten to Grade 6 in French-language schools. Program requirements and course descriptions are available here.

Course registration

The Undergraduate Studies office of the Faculty of Education registers students for all compulsory courses as well as optional courses according to their teaching subject (Junior/intermediate and intermediate/senior division). Students will be responsible for registering for their elective course.

Optional courses

Once the registration period has opened, students must register themselves for their elective course according to their program requirements through their uoZone student portal.

Life on Campus

Courses are offered at Collège Boréal, located downtown near Lake Ontario, and are held in the evenings, during the day and on weekends. Downtown Toronto is easily accessible by public transportation.

The campus is temporarily located at Collège Boréal until August 28, 2023 and will be relocated to 60 Distillery Lane starting August 29th.
