This Master of Education (MEd) program focusing on Second Language Education will allow you to expand your knowledge of theory, concepts and practices related to language teaching and learning.

Consider diversity and the unique needs it creates for learners.

In this program, you will examine the political, cultural, social and technological issues associated with education and languages at a provincial, national and international level. The program allows you to understand what it means to learn a second language, ie a language of schooling. You cover everything related to the pedagogy and didactics of second languages. You will learn about the theoretical models on this subject and about the progress of research. Thus, you will be able to develop pedagogical practices that better meet the needs of learners and raise students' awareness of issues in a minority context.

Current issues influenced by the research in the concentration

"Migration flows are increasingly present in our lives and the children of these migrants will have to learn the language of schooling. However, teachers are not trained to deal with diversity. The challenge is to include these children by responding as best as possible to their needs while training teachers."
