Research laboratories, networks and centres

Under the leadership of Andrew Hargeaves and Trista Hollweck, the Change, Engagement and Innovation in Education: A Canadian Collaboratory (CHENINE) is a national, interdisciplinary Canadian Centre with global impact and reach, conceived to create and to coordinate technological, pedagogical, curriculum and research infrastructure. The Centre supports and fosters innovative and engaging learning for all students irrespective of their context or circumstances. CHENINE is a public resource for educators and educational leaders in all provinces and territories at all levels and is an intellectually independent and transparent university-based entity.

Directed by Michelle Schira Hagerman, the edstudiO is a multidimensional research, teaching, and community space. Access to programs and new technologies in the edstudiO advance our strategic priorities in preparing the next generation of teachers and educational researchers to use a range of digital and physical tools in their practice. The edstudiO has four purpose-built activity zones for making and tinkering, digital gaming, digital media production and collaboration.

The network Chantiers d'actions et de recherches pour des Ffrancophonies inclusives (CARFfI), led by Phyllis Dalley, focuses on the co-construction of local, regional and provincial Francophonies as well as the federal Francophonie (and therefore Ffrancophonies) that are ever more inclusive, for and through French-language education.

The research work of EvalCap, directed by Isabelle Bourgeois, seeks to better understand the individual and organizational factors that influence the production and use of quality evaluations.

 EngFemmes, led by Donatille Mujawamariya, highlights the role and contribution of female engineers in research and technological innovation, and on women’s issues.

The Observatoire sur l’éducation en contexte linguistique minoritaire (OÉCLM) is an initiative directed by Nathalie Bélanger, in collaboration with the Collège des chaires de recherche sur le monde francophone at the University of Ottawa. The goal of the OÉCLM is to mobilize knowledge and to share relevant and emerging research which can inform practitioners and improve educational practices in schools.
