Doctorate Admission Scholarship (uOttawa)

At the Faculty of Health Sciences, this admission scholarship may be given to candidates who:

  • Submit their full application by February 1st
  • Meet the eligibility criteria
  • Enroll full-time in a doctoral program

Doctorate’s Admission Scholarship, Second Component – Faculty of Health Sciences

The second component is paid to the student in various forms including teaching assistantship positions (Canadian Union of Public Employees, CUPE) such as Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator/Lab Monitor, Tutor, Corrector/(Marker) and Proctor, or Research Assistant (RA) (CUPE) or Teaching Contracts (Association of Part-Time of the University of Ottawa, APTPUO) or any other position funded through the Faculty’s operational funds (i.e., simulated patients), as long as you are registered full-time, available to work in Ottawa, have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN), and a Canadian bank account, for the duration of the scholarship.

*The following are excluded: students registered in the Doctorate of Philosophy - Distance Option in Nursing do not get the second component.

Master's Admission Scholarship (uOttawa)

At the Faculty of Health Sciences, the admission scholarship supports students who are Canadians, permanent residents, protected persons or members of a diplomatic corps, admitted full-time to an eligible master's program.

Master's Admission Scholarship (thesis programs, Faculty of Health Sciences)

This admission scholarship may be given to candidates who:

  • Submit their full application by February 1st
  • Meet the eligibility criteria
  • Have an admission average of 9.0/10 or higher
  • Enroll full-time in a thesis-based program

Second Component – Master’s (with thesis)

$7,500 offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences in the form of teaching assistantships.

Exception: Students registered full-time in the Master of Science Nursing – Distance Option receive no second component.

Master's Admission Scholarship (course-based, non-thesis, Faculty of Health Sciences)

A limited number of this admission scholarship may be given to candidates who:

  • Submitted their full application by the ORPAS deadline (early January)
  • Meet the eligibility criteria
  • Have an admission average of 9.0/10 or higher
  • Enroll full-time in a rehabilitation sciences professional (course-based) non-thesis program

Second Component – Master’s (course-based, non-thesis)

No second component

Faculty of Health Sciences Special Scholarship

Faculty Special Merit Scholarship of $7,500 in total, distributed over the first three terms only of the program ($2,500 per term), may be awarded to Canadian, permanent residents, protected persons or members of a diplomatic corps full-time students who:

  • Submit their full application by February 1st
  • Have an admission average between 8.0/10 and 8.99/10
  • Enroll full-time in a thesis-based program

Exception for students in the Master of Science Nursing: students who meet the eligibility criteria admitted in the course-based full-time program who transfer to the program with thesis may be awarded a Special Merit Scholarship of 7,500$ ($2,500 per term) in the second year of the program (that is, terms 4, 5 and 6) once a professor formally accepts to supervise their thesis.
