Christiane Saad, Director

Christiane Saad has been the Director of the University of Ottawa's Law Practice Program (LPP) since May 2018. She received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the French Common Law Program and her Licence en Droit (LL.L.) from the University of Ottawa. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning from the University of Montreal. 

Ms. Saad has been a member of the Ontario Bar since 2017. She is also a member of the Ontario Attorney General's Advisory Committee on Access to Justice in French, the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario (Chair of the Access to Justice Committee), the Canadian Bar Association/Ontario Bar Association (Law Futures Committee, Official Languages Committee, Practice Management Section, among others) and the County of Carleton Law Association. She also serves on several community non-profit boards.

Élodie Dezard, Assistant

Élodie Dezard studied law in Quebec and in Paris. She holds a master's degree in business law from the Université Panthéon-Assas and a certificate in civil law from the Université de Montréal. Before joining PPD, she worked as an interpreter for an administrative tribunal and as a substitute teacher for various school boards in the Outaouais region. She joined the PPD team in November 2019.

Stanley Desmoulins, Legal Project Manager

Stanley Desmoulins holds a Juris Doctor of Common Law degree in French from the Université de Moncton and a Bachelor of Political Science degree from the Université de Montréal. He also holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the École nationale d’administration publique of Québec and an MBA from UQÀM. Stanley Desmoulins has completed the University of Ottawa’s Law Practice Program. He enjoys promoting the French language without rejecting the English language. He loves law, project management, information technology, public administration and sports. In his spare time, Stanley Desmoulins is a member of Rotary International, serving others to promote integrity, mutual understanding, goodwill and peace. He is also a member of Toastmasters International, an organization dedicated to improving the communication and leadership skills of its members.

Curtis Whyte, Legal Project Manager

Curtis Whyte is a Legal Projects Manager at the Law Practice Program. He holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Moncton and a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice from Laurentian University. Curtis focuses on improving access to justice for the average person, linguistic minorities, and marginalized groups by advocating for their rights and addressing their struggles. He has a keen interest in the Constitution, legislative drafting, and policymaking. Curtis holds a strong passion for the study and practice of Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, Torts, Labor & Employment Law, and Tenant rights. He is a member of the Association of French Speaking Jurists of Ontario and the Official Languages Committee of the Ontario Bar Association. Curtis aims to diversify the legal profession by encouraging and supporting those from underrepresented communities to become jurists. He is working towards a more inclusive legal profession that serves the needs of all communities.

Thierno Ibrahima Diop, Legal Project Manager

A member of the Association des juristes d'expression française de l'Ontario, Thierno Ibrahima Diop is a candidate for the Ontario Bar Admission Process. He holds a Licence en droit civil from the Université française de Guinée, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the Université de Moncton. He belings to the 2022-2023 cohort of the Law Practice Program at university of Ottawa, where he was one of the recipients of the Promising Future Award.

Sandra Khalil, student

Sandra Khalil is in her third year of the Honours BSocSc Political Science and Juris Doctor (JD) program at the University of Ottawa. She is a Project Officer at the Programme de pratique du droit, where she is involved in the implementation of projects ranging from preparing legal education materials to promoting the Program in the law community. Her interests lie in AI's  

implications in law, a subject she collaborated in instructing through the Mini Course "Droit et technologies" at the University of Ottawa. As a French Common Law student and member of the PPD team, Sandra promotes legal education in French, co-authoring the article "Un cheminement unique pour intégrer la profession juridique et contribuer à l’accès à la justice," further reinforcing the Program's presence in the francophone legal community.
