Biography

Jonathan Brunet, B.A., LL.B., was called to the Ontario Bar in 1990 after clerking for Chief Justice Frank Iacobucci (as he was) of the Federal Court of Appeal.  Mr. Brunet then worked at the Department of Justice in Toronto and at Foreign Affairs in Ottawa before joining the Crown Attorney's office in 1993.  Since 1993, he has worked as an Assistant Crown Attorney in the Crown Attorney's Office in Ottawa, except for a three-year period where he worked as a Federal Crown Attorney.

Since 1997, Mr. Brunet has been teaching criminal law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa.  He has also taught at Carleton University in Ottawa and at the Ontario Bar Admission Course.  He is the author, editor or co-author of several texts in the criminal field, including  The Annotated Firearms Act and Related Legislation, LexisNexis/Butterworths, 1999, 2006, 2009;Firearms, Weapons and Dangerous Goods, Halsbury's Laws of Canada, LexisNexis/Butterworths, 2009;Victims of Crime, Halsbury's Laws of Canada, LexisNexis/Butterworths, 2010; and Drugs and Controlled Substances, Halsbury's Laws of Canada, LexisNexis/Butterworths, 2010
