Rupa has a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from McGill University. Her background in life sciences has influenced her methodical and analytical style of legal practice, as well as her ability to comprehend medical evidence used in disability cases.
Rupa obtained her J.D. from Queen’s University Faculty of Law. While at Queen’s, she was a volunteer caseworker for the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic where she represented clients in their Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPP-D) benefits and Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) matters. Through this experience, Rupa was determined to work in a legal practice where she would advocate for clients having financial, physical, and emotional barriers to justice.
After being called to the bar in 2012, Rupa represented plaintiffs in disability, critical illness, personal injury, motor vehicle and employment litigation at a leading disability law firm in Toronto. She also represented clients at the Social Security Tribunal for CPP disability hearings. Rupa has extensive experience litigating disability and personal injury claims, and more specifically, in motor vehicle accident cases.
In 2016, Rupa co-founded Mulqueen Karyampudi LLP (MK Disability Lawyers), a boutique law firm dedicated to representing disabled plaintiffs in their long-term disability insurance disputes. Her professionalism, attention to detail and strategic approach to litigation has gained her clients’ confidence and resulted in high-value settlements from insurance companies.
Rupa is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, Toronto Lawyers Association, the South Asian Bar Association, and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers. She is a volunteer for the Pro Bono Ontario Free Legal Advice Hotline.
