Biography

Alexis is an associate in Deloitte Legal Canada LLP’s Employment and Labour Group. With expertise in both provincial and federal law regarding daily employment and labour matters, Alexis regularly advises clients on: employment standards and compliance, policies and agreements, performance management, hiring and dismissal, due diligence reviews, health and safety matters, human rights issues, labour relations, and all related litigation matters. She works alongside Deloitte’s Human Capital consultants, and the Global Employer Services groups to provide legal services for clients located within the country and abroad in a variety of industries. 

Alexis combines an academic background in socio-legal studies with her passion for advocacy and employment law to deliver practical and diverse business solutions for her clients. She has acted on due diligence review teams for a number of high-profile business deals and has represented clients with success in a variety of employment and labour advocacy matters before Ontario courts and tribunals, including HRTO, OLRB, and WSIAT. Alexis also has experience representing employers in collective bargaining negotiations, Ministry of Labour complaints and matters related to workplace health and safety. She has extensive training in conducting workplace harassment and violence investigations and supports employers through workplace accident and fatality incidents. 

Prior to law school, Alexis earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Criminology from the University of Toronto. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, graduating Cum Laude on the Dean’s Honour List and winning a number of awards, including the Emond Harnden Labour Law Prize. During law school, Alexis volunteered with a housing justice program for low-income tenants and served as a teaching assistant in the Dean’s Legal Research and Writing Fellowship program. She has also volunteered with Pro Bono Law Help Ontario’s employment legal advice hotline. 

Alexis is a member of a number of associations, including the Canadian Association for Counsel to Employers, the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
