Benjamin Piper was called to the bar of Ontario in 2010, after completing his LL.B. at the University of Ottawa and his B.A. at Carleton University, studying Canadian history. After law school, Ben clerked for Justices Eleanore Cronk and Paul Rouleau of the Court of Appeal for Ontario, followed by a clerkship with Justice Rosalie Abella at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Ben practiced bilingually in labour, administrative and human rights law and civil litigation with Goldblatt Partners LLP in Ottawa, and then joined the National Judicial Institute in 2016, where has acted as a Judicial Education Counsel until taking his current position as Assistant Director of Education.
Ben teaches Administrative Law at the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common Law, and has previous taught Torts. He has also published works on labour and constitutional law.
Outside of work, Ben is active in the Ottawa social housing community and loves cross-country skiing, playing ultimate frisbee and almost anything else outdoors.
