Biography

Rebecca Porter is a bilingual lawyer at the law firm Gowling WLG in Ottawa. Her practice focuses on health law and medical defence, including acting as General Counsel to the Canadian Medical Protective Association. 

Rebecca completed her JD in the French Common Law program at the University of Ottawa with the honorary mention magna cum laude. Throughout her studies, she held several teaching and research positions, and participated in moot competitions. Rebecca also completed internships for various organizations such as the Collaborative Justice Program, the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic, the Department of Justice, Pro Bono Law Help Ontario and the Projects Abroad Human Rights Office in South Africa. 

Rebecca stays active in her community by participating in pro bono and charitable activities, and by acting as a mentor. She is also a proud member of l’Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario (AJEFO).
