Rachel Quinby

Rachel Quinby - Program coordinator

Rachel (she/her) is a second-year student in the English Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. Prior to attending law school, she worked at various non-profit and social service organizations which instilled in her a deep interest in social justice. She is excited to work with PBSC and organizations to increase access to justice in the community. Outside of school, Rachel enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

Asha Sahota

Asha Sahota - Program coordinator

Asha (she/her) is a second-year student in the English Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. Prior to law school, she worked at several non-profits, within the Government, and with various research organizations. Improving access to justice is one of the main reasons she decided to come to law school. Asha joined PBSC because of their dedication and commitment to addressing the barriers that communities face when trying to access justice. Asha is thrilled and honoured to be able to help bring public interest work to her law school community and to be able to show the importance of access to justice initiatives in the legal field.

Devanshi Soni - Events Coordinator

Devanshi (she/her) is in her second-year in the English Common Law Program at the University of Ottawa. She is from Toronto, Ontario. She has an academic background in public and international affairs and is passionate about improving access to justice, particularly addressing barriers that stem from policy design.

Elaine Tam - 3L Representative

Elaine is a third-year student in the English Common Law JD program.  In addition to being a healthcare professional, she has an academic background in international relations.  Elaine has travelled solo in 90+ countries and is a passionate Argentine tango dancer and classical musician.  She also enjoys reading, yoga, rock climbing, swimming, cooking, and learning languages.  Elaine has a long history of volunteerism and looks forward to engaging in regular pro bono work as a legal professional.

Jovelee Santos Herrera

Jovelee Santos Herrera - 2L Representative

Jovelee (she/her) is a second-year student in the English Common Law program. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics and Governance from Toronto Metropolitan University. In addition to being the 2L representative for Pro Bono Students Canada, Jovelee is a volunteer student researcher for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association. Throughout her academic career, Jovelee has remained curious about the reinforcement of power dynamics between institutions and individuals. She believes that education, both formal and informal, is the key to empowerment and navigating this reality. She is eager to be part of PBSC's efforts to facilitate this. 

Oscar Li

Oscar Li - 1L Representative

Oscar (he/him) is a first-year student in the English Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. Recently graduating from the University of Toronto, he spent much of his undergrad facilitating or providing pro-bono consulting services for non-profits. Otherwise, having spent many years mentoring students and supporting at-risk youth has only reinforced his desire to increase access to justice. Oscar is grateful that organizations like PBSC exist and is hoping to make a difference for the community.

Sarah Melnyk

Sarah Melnyk - 3L Representative

Sarah is a third-year student in the Common Law JD program. She is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Manitoba. Sarah is passionate about health law, public policy and ethics, and access to justice.

Zoya Konoff

Zoya Konoff - Communications Coordinator

Zoya (she/her) is a first-year student in the JD Common Law program at the University of Ottawa. A graduate from the University of Calgary with a BComm (Marketing) and a BA in English, Zoya has spent the past few years working in varied communications positions across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. Having volunteered for the last two years with a Calgary-based pro bono organization, Zoya has seen firsthand the importance of organizations like PBSC in ensuring access to justice for all Canadians.
