TMM Student of the Year Award

Every year, a few students of the English and French streams of TMM are selected for the TMM Student of the Year Award. While it is a difficult decision to make, these students in particular have stood out for their academic achievements, involvement with TMM, and research.

WiBR

The Work in Biomedical Research (WiBR) program gives TMM students an opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a laboratory environment while their supervisor enhances the TMM student’s education. WiBR allows students to gain valuable work experience and lay the foundation over the summer for their potential Honour’s project. WiBR will provide up to $3,500 with the employer being mandated to complete the salary to a minimum stipend of $6,500 for the student over the summer. It is also mandatory that the sum of the stipend must be at least equal to the minimum wage defined by the Province of Ontario and therefore, the number of work hours/week, and number of weeks or the amount of the supplement provided by the supervisor may need to be adjusted.

CI3 Summer scholarship

The Centre for Infection, Immunity and Inflammation (CI3) will provide students with an opportunity to work in the lab of a professor who is a member of CI3. Applicants will be assessed based on their CV, cumulative GPA in the last two years, and a 1 page research proposal.

NSERC USRA

The NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (NSERC USRA) is meant to provide students with an opportunity to grow and develop their potential for research. They are meant to encourage students to undertake graduate studies in their fields of interest. Scholarships are awarded based on the student’s GPA (minimum cGPA of 7.5) and research proposal.

NSERC Matrix Metabolomics

The Metabolomics Advanced Training and International Exchange Program (MATRIX) is a collaborative training program supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Under the supervision of a participating member, it provides students with an opportunity to engage in research and training in metabolomics. While the Matrix program does not fund undergraduate students, TMM honours students interested continuing their graduate studies in a laboratory part of the Matrix program will benefit from unique funding opportunities.

NSERC Technomise

The TECHNOlogies for Microbiome Science and Engineering program aims to develop a comprehensive and integrated training program for microbiome analysis. Under the supervision of a participating member, students can develop the skills they need to pursue a career in microbiota studies.
