Salut! Hi! My name is Amani and I am a student in the MD2026 here at the University of Ottawa, in the Francophone stream. Prior to my admission, I majored in Health Sciences at uOttawa as well. In my free time, I love to swim, bake and play piano with my friends! I am happy to be a student ambassador because I know first-hand how nerve-racking and confusing the road to medicine may seem. Hello. My name is Caroline Mallity and I am a student in the MD2025 in the Francophone stream. I’m from Embrun, a small village east of Ottawa. I completed my undergraduate studies in translational and molecular medicine at the University of Ottawa. When I am not studying, I enjoy playing volleyball, hiking in nature and, of course, watching Netflix! Applying to medical school can be very intimidating with lots of information online. Hi everyone! My name is Gabby, and I am a student in the MD2026 Anglophone stream. I was born and raised in rural Ottawa and completed my undergrad at the University of Ottawa in translational and molecular medicine. My interests include spending time outdoors (I love hiking and backpacking!), spending time with my friends and family and trying new recipes. I also love travelling whenever I can (my goal is to visit every province and territory in Canada). As an ambassador, I can help you learn more about the Faculty of Medicine and answer any questions that you may have about uOttawa. As an Ottawa native, I am also happy to answer questions about student life, fun activities, and the best study spots in the Capital region!

Hello! My name is Gurraman Mann and I am a student in the MD2025. I did my undergrad at McMaster University where I graduated from the BScN program and worked as a NICU nurse for a year. In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and capturing photographs of nature and friends. Because Ottawa has so many beautiful trails and water bodies, this has been quite easy to do. I understand that many students at uOttawa come from far away, so it is important to have resources to make the transition easier. I was fortunate to have many kind mentors that helped me navigate medical school so being a student ambassador is the least I can do to give back! My name is Jack and I am a student in the MD2026 cohort! I’m originally from Vancouver but spent three years in Hamilton, ON before being accepted at uOttawa. I love discovering new places and actually moved to Ottawa a week before orientation to explore the city by myself. In my free time, I like to hit the gym (I recently picked up Olympic weightlifting), play ultimate frisbee intramurals, volunteer at my local church, and video call my two younger brothers back in BC. I wouldn’t be at uOttawa without my mentors giving me tips on how to study, manage stress, and what to expect from medical school, so that is why I became a student ambassador. I’m especially eager to talk to students who may not be from Ottawa and share my experiences of adjusting to the city and school.

My name is Jacky, and I am a student in the MD2026 at the University of Ottawa in the English stream. My interests include running, hiking, camping, and playing badminton. I consider myself an adventurous and outgoing person and am always down to meet new people whether from intramurals, clubs, or simply chatting. Currently, I am training for the Toronto Waterfront half marathon and am using this opportunity to go on different running trails and discover more about my new home in Ottawa. I am also on a quest to explore all the cafes and museums in the city to satisfy my desire for great coffee and knowledge. I am a student ambassador because I had a lot of support and encouragement from upper years when applying to undergraduate programs and again when applying for medical school and would like to give something back to the community.

My name is Laurent and I am a student in the MD2025 French stream. Some say that I come from the countryside but, in fact, I come from a suburb of Montréal called Boisbriand, for those who know. Before starting medicine at the University of Ottawa, I studied nursing and nutrition at Université de Montréal. When I have free time between my daily 1001 Anki cards, I like to bake bread and train in all kinds of sports. I would describe myself as an organized and hardworking individual who enjoys helping my colleagues as much as I can. That’s why I find this role resonates with me. I can act as a resource for future students in a unique way and inform them about the University of Ottawa and our medical program.
