The School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies at the University of Ottawa offers a distinctive and innovative approach to culture and society, in both French and English.

Programs

Anthropology

In the Anthropology program, you will experience intricate and stimulating fieldwork, where one observes and participates in people’s lives.

Sociology involves the empirical study of societies, institutions and cultures. During your studies, you will apply theoretical approaches to real-world cases and learn how to use quantitative and qualitative research tools.

African Studies

African Studies offers a multidisciplinary and intercultural education, focused on a deep understanding of African states, societies, and contemporary issues, enhanced by practical experiences and partnerships with African institutions.

Social Sciences

This three-year Bachelor of Social Sciences degree provides you with a foundation in social sciences and a strong background in community-based social innovation and social justice.
