Geospatial data identifies and describes the geographic location of features and boundaries. Spatial data is usually stored as coordinates and topology and can be mapped. There are two types of geospatial data: vector and raster.

Our collection primarily consists of geospatial data for the Ottawa-Gatineau local area as well as Ontario and Quebec.

Maps

Our collection consists of Canadian topographic maps (digital and print), general and historical atlases, aerial photographs (digital and print), wall maps and gazetteers.

To find maps and atlases use the Omni search engine. To find air photos, wall maps and geological maps use our Cartographic Resources Research Guide.

Software and equipment

We provide support for special equipment for use with cartographic resources, and may provide limited support for select geographical and statistical software packages based on team member capacity and availability.
