Computers and technology
The uOttawa Library is pleased to provide access to computers and technology to students, professors, and staff.

uOLabsPlus

The uOLabsPlus online service portal allows active students and employees with teaching activities to use their personal devices to gain access to the University's licensed software and applications, on or off-campus.

The University of Ottawa Library is pleased to provide the following specialized software through this portal:

  • ArcGIS Pro
  • ArcGIS Desktop
  • Excel
  • Haver
  • PowerPoint
  • SPSS
  • Stata1
  • Word

Note: Library remote apps will be available from 3 a.m. to midnight and will shut down for maintenance daily.

The Library remote apps are available for active students only. Active employees with teaching activities who require this service need to request access by filling out the Technical support form.

If you have any issues with the Library provided remote applications (those named as “Biblio – Application Name”),  please let us know.

1- Please note that Stata licenses are limited to two simultaneous users. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Public computers

Public computers at the Morisset Library, the Health Sciences Library, and at the Brian Dickson Library are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Users may be asked to present their uOttawa ID.

Students, professors, alumni and employees, you will be prompted to enter your login information.

Username: Full uOttawa.ca email address ([email protected])

Password:

  • Employees: your uoAccess password is the same one used for systems such as Outlook/Exchange, VirtuO, and UNIWeb.
  • Students: your uoAccess password is the same one used for systems such as Google and uoZone.

To change your uoAccess password, use the uoAccess self-serve tool. Need help? Contact the Service Desk.

All of our computer workstations come with Internet access and Microsoft Office software. Most have USB ports and CD-reader drives. Specialized software is also available at the following locations:

Visitors can use the computers through our guest account service. To be issued a guest account, bring identification with your name, address and signature to the service desk and complete the form.

Wireless access

Wireless access is available throughout every library for current students, faculty, staff and alumni using a laptop or handheld device.

To set up a wireless connection, visit the IT Support website.

If you have any questions, submit a Service Desk request.

Security

Under no circumstances leave computers or any personal items unattended in the library. You should always follow these theft prevention tips. The Library is not responsible for lost or stolen laptops or other items.
