  • Employee outcomes of corporate social responsibility

Magda joined the Telfer School of Management upon completion of her doctoral studies at the John Molson School of Business.

Her interest in corporate social responsibility (CSR) focus on employees as an important stakeholder group with the potential to encourage organizations to engage in genuine CSR, as opposed to greenwashing.  While there is much macro-level research pointing to profit and reputational benefits of engaging in any CSR activity (greenwashing included), Magda’s research focusing on micro-CSR suggests that positive employee outcomes result only when employees view their organization as engaging in genuine CSR.

In 2017 Magda co-authored an article contributing a measure of organizational CSR initiatives perceived as genuine or greenwashing by their employees. As part of this construct validation study they found that organizations engaging in genuine CSR were viewed as givers, while those attributed as engaging in greenwashing were characterized as takers.  With this measure she aims to extend work in this area to further contribute evidence that only genuine CSR leads to positive employee outcomes at work.

Magda teaches organizational behavior and human resource management.
