uOttawa’s Kanata North campus marks 5 years in Canada's largest tech park
The University of Ottawa’s Kanata North campus has become a hub for innovation and talent development. Over the past five years, uOttawa has doubled the size of its campus at Kanata North and initiated projects like the Smart Connected Vehicle Innovation Centre. Collaborations with local startups, SMEs, and multinational corporations have flourished, resulting in significant research partnerships and intellectual property generation, particularly in digital transformation fields like AI and cybersecurity.
The next generation of tech talent is being shaped at Kanata North through initiatives such as the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network Regional Future Workforce program and uOttawa’s own co-op program, which has seen a nearly 100% increase in annual placements.

Innovative primary care program connects locals with family doctors
Researchers at the University of Ottawa have developed an innovative health-care program to address problems accessing primary care experienced by people in rural and remote regions. The Integrated Virtual Care (IVC) program focuses on gaps in primary care in Renfrew County, Ontario. Led by Cayden Peixoto, from the Institut du Savoir Montfort, and Dr. Jonathan Fitzsimon, this initiative successfully pairs rural residents with family physicians mainly through online channels. Over seven months, the system facilitated 2800 appointments.
